As you can see that the traditional 8 cycles of chaal has been reduced down to 6, and in the space of the last two bars we have a complete rest followed by the Thora: Dha Ge Na Dha Ge Na Dha.

    Not to say that I am the greatest dholi or anything, but the above bols “sound” wrong. The first to cycles read what I hear in the song, but the third cycle doesn’t “read” the song.
    If you listen to the song, the first two cycles are the same but the third is a bit different. The third cycle doesn’t sound like it starts with a “dha”. What I am hearing is a “kin”.

    not even sure if its a “kin” what I am hearing. the only reason I say that it is a “kin” is because all three cycles have the same hit represented on the 5th note/beat.

    basically what I am trying to say is that the 3rd cycle should start with the same hit that is on the 5th note/beat that is common in all three.

    wow…that soo hard for me to explain

    also, just a heads up to all the newer dholis like me, don’t giveup if your beat doesn’t sound exactly like that in the song. You’ve got to remember that every dhol sounds different and the one(s) from Char Panj have been enhanced with all sorts of studio wizardry.

    A good example of this is

    The beat played in the above link is the same exact beat as the one listed for Char Panj (well, just the 2 cycles).

    Basically what i think Harminz is tryna say is that..
    It goes Dha Take TIR KIT Kin Take TIR KIT
    for the first two parts of the start
    but it sounds as if its KIN Take TIR KIT Kin Take TIR KIT
    in the actual video.
